The Thunder series frac pump is designed to meet the challenges of today’s frac operations. With increasing pressures and 24/7 pumping duty cycles, customers are demanding equipment that can operate on longer maintenance intervals.

Based on the GD-3000 pump platform, which is field proven in the most severe shale plays, the Thunder series pump uses long stroke technology to operate at lower speeds while enhancing flow rate capabilities. This extends the pump’s maintenance overhaul life cycle, while also reducing consumables and associated labor costs by $250,000 over the life of the pump.

“The Thunder series is our response to listening to our customers around the industry,” said Larry Kerr, VPGM, Gardner Denver Petroleum and Industrial Pumps. “They asked for a pump that operates more efficiently, with longer product life, and ultimately saves them money. The Thunder series was designed for performance and serviceability and demonstrates our commitment to innovation and meeting customer needs regardless of the current price environment.”

This next-generation frac pump utilizes innovative technology to improve performance and reduce the total cost of ownership:

  • The Thunder Series significantly improves wear and tear resistance, allowing the power end maintenance overhaul to be consistent with engine, pump and transmission maintenance service schedules.
  • The enhanced power end technology makes maintenance easier and safer, thus reducing downtime.
  • Thunder next-generation technology increases fluid end life by three times.
  • Designed for optimum performance, the Thunder Series includes a triplex pump that reaches 2,550 brake horsepower (BHP) while the quintuplex pump reaches 3,000 BHP.
